That is such a big word… How do we trust in the midst of change, transition, hardship, pain, illness, loss, etc.?
We lean on Him.
In John 14:20 our LORD explains to his disciples that "In that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you."
God is in us and around us, And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28
When we are afraid of our circumstances, we need simply:
- Seek our LORD (He is in and around us)
- Recount our blessings (oh, how easily we forget them)
- Remember that it is God's battle, not ours (hand it over to Him)
- Be still (wait patiently)
- Physically place your trust in Him and do what He tells you to do (perhaps writing your fear down--giving it to Him--and then listen)
- Praise and worship the LORD (oh, how easily we forget to do this each day--rock that music!)
- He will battle for you (and put all things into place--just for you)
Trust in the LORD with all your heartIsn't that so good?
An do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3: 5-6
Most of what is written above is based on my notes from Friday's Moms' Group at our church. We are doing Denise Glenn's bible study titled Wisdom for Mothers. Clearly her lesson and God's Word spoke to me during this time of transition for us.
We are doing well--the transition to my dad's house has been pretty smooth. The kids are having a blast--there is so much to do on his four acres. The one who has struggled the most is my husband. Understandably, living under another man's roof puts certain limitations on being the "head of your household." Knowing that this is temporary makes it easier, but also not knowing what lies ahead can cause fear and anxiety. He needs prayers!
So, we are lying helplessly face down and giving it all to Him.
Trust.
