A little update on the Moodys from the Christmas letter my husband wrote in early December.
Merry Christmas
But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greater of these

One of the blessings of this time
of year is the chance it gives us to connect with you, our friends and family,
and reflect on God’s love as He put you in our lives to express His love. He is sovereign and controls all,
including our family and relationships (Romans 8:28). For that I am eternally grateful.
This year has been an exciting
one for our household. We are so
blessed, living in Arizona and the United States, to still be homeschooling
Collier, William, and Evan. While
that is the center of many of our activities and accomplishments, there have
been a number of other events we would love to share.
The Top Ten Moody events of 2015
1. Keira
and I started our own small business selling LuLaRoe clothing. It is modest women’s clothing that is
still elegant and attractive. We
are hoping to honor God in this way by promoting women dressing in a way that
respects themselves and those around them. Check our site: www.facebook.com/groups/lularoekeira/
2. Collier
will be graduating high school in May of 2016. This fall he was accepted to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical
University in Prescott, AZ, and is looking forward to making his family
bankrupt through having to pay tuition.
Though, it will be less as he received a merit scholarship (largely due
to winning the first place Texas Instruments award in the Southern Arizona
science fair) covering 1/3 of tuition.
He must take after his mom.
3. William,
while playing football for Pusch Ridge Christian Academy, broke his tibia,
fibula, ankle, and growth plate while making a 15 yard kick-off return. This required surgery, and as I write
this he is still recovering and learning how not to limp.
4. All
three boys are loving and serving God, and our nation’s heritage through being
members of Generation Joshua, a Christian youth civics club. William serves as President, Collier is
the treasurer, and Evan who just joined is an active member. He only lost the
election for VP by 3 votes. If only the elections were in Illinois, he might have
been able to rig it.
5. William
was promoted to Chief Master Sergeant in Civil Air Patrol. This is only one rank below
Lieutenant. I am worried he might
make us start saluting him.
6. The
musical tradition in the Moody household continues, with Evan learning piano
and taking lessons from a wonderful and talented fellow homeschooler, and with
Collier continuing to play guitar, bass, and clarinet for our church. I know this is not an event, but I
still like it. Though, with Evan
starting to play, now realize that there are A LOT of songs that are based on
Twinkle-Twinkle Little Star (alphabet song, baa-baa blacksheep, …).
7. William
earned his expert marksmen badge.
This marksmenship came in handy during dove season, as William and I
took Evan out for his first season.
Suffice it to say that limits were reached and the 2nd
amendment was well used.
8. Lord
help us! Collier got his driver’s
license AND, using his own money, bought his first car, a 2001 Subaru Forrester,
with the help of a dear friend who made the process easy and owns Canyon Auto
Sales here in Tucson. While this
is helpful to the family, it also is a whole new level of anxiety. I know this one will get us all
thinking about our first cars with either fond memories or horrible
regret. For those of you who are
wondering about our parenting skills; yes, it is a stick shift.
9. I
had the opportunity to grow my beard to almost 4 inches long. I felt alternately like a lumberjack or
a 19th century American president. Keira, however, thought I looked like a hobo, so it is now
being worn at a shorter length.
10. We
continue to rely on God for His glory and His guidance. It is edifying that all three boys love
and cherish the Lord and do all things for his glory (1 Corinthians 10:31). If we do nothing else, this is our
primary purpose and goal as parents.
We pray all of you find peace in
your heart and interactions, and in this season of our Lord find Him and accept
Him as your Lord and Savior, being fully armed with the armor of God (Ephesians
6:10-18). We love you all and pray
for your peace, safety, and success.
