A Powerful Delusion, Bill Nye

The boys are going on four weeks of using the Swedish Rosetta Stone, and they are making remarkable progress. It is truly amazing how 5 to 10 minutes of lessons each day can have such an impact. They are internalizing the language rapidly.

That very impact has made me realize how a daily dose of indoctrination of the world, through history and science classes in public school, and even children's literature, can have a huge impact on our children. It puts them in a very uncomfortable duplicitous mindset and thinking. As Christians they believe that God is their creator, but in order to pass their classes, they need to respond to questions and read assignments that has the agenda of teaching, and the underlying assumption, of evolution. It does not take them long to deny or question creationism and believe in evolution, for no other reason than that they are repeatedly being taught that it is truth by authority figures and possibly being mocked if they offer their belief as an answer. (As a public school teacher, I was privy to hearing this mocking in the teacher's lounge time and time again.)

Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, 2 Peter 3:3

I share this with you so that you can be there to support your child(ren) and help them deal with this contradiction and to strengthen their faith and belief system.

A few mornings ago my husband sent me this video clip of Bill Nye: Bill Nye: Creationism Is Not Appropriate For Children One of his colleagues (a biology teacher) sent it to him trying to change my husband's beliefs… The clip is creepy and should be a concern for all Christian parents. Nye offers no proof of his beliefs only scapegoating and condemnation of parents with a statement that the United States needs our children. Bill Nye is worshipped in the world of science education and, according to my youngest son, his videos are used as part of science classes in elementary school. He has an agenda!

To Creationists, Bill Nye says, "And I say to the grown ups, if you want to deny evolution and live in your world, in your world that's completely inconsistent with everything we observe in the universe, that's fine, but don't make your kids do it because we need them. We need scientifically literate voters and tax payers for the future. We need people that can, we need engineers that can build stuff, solve problems."

He even blames us for holding people back by not believing in evolution. As parents we are condemned and blamed for the lack of scientific progress.

Notice that he ends by saying, "There's no evidence for it."

The evidence for creationism is endless, Bill Nye. And, the most beautiful thing is that none of creation evidence needs to be fabricated.  Just look at the fraudulent evolution evidence that continues to be displayed in museums and our textbooks to prove evolution. Haeckel's drawings of embryos to prove evolution were faked, and these very drawings that he admitted, in the late 1800s, to faking, could still be found in textbooks as proof of evolution. Why? Or Marsh's made up table of horse evolution that continued to be used in textbooks and the Chicago Field Museum, even after it was found to be a fraud, as proof of evolution. Why? How about the peppered moths? They were glued onto a tree to prove a theory. Why? In addition, creationism does not need to use "circular reasoning" to explain time such as dating fossils by rocks and dating rocks by fossils or dating strata by bones and bones by strata; we can look to the Bible for creation, time and fossils. We can explain fossils by the flood and time by simply reading the genealogy of the bible.

Bill Nye, perhaps you need to have a scientific debate with Ken Ham or Kent Hovind.

And, Bill Nye, you may continue to believe your religion but, with all due respect, you may not have my children, nor will I ever tell them that it is okay for them to deny their creator just so they can follow the religion of evolution, for the sake of our country. They are citizens of heaven first.  Perhaps what our country needs most right now is to return to a moral compass based on God's word, which is how it was started… Or, perhaps we could simply start by eliminating all the false evidence and illogical proof for evolution--let's look at the facts and truth.

See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ. Colossians 2:8

The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and be saved. For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.

Sourdough Loaf--Yum!

In order to follow His lead, and focus on going back to basics in every aspect of our life, we have changed some of our eating habits. We are slowly but surely returning to traditional ways of eating and cooking. Our focus is on real foods--avoiding the modern processed foods as best we can.

Today I made this beautiful loaf with my sourdough starter. Through trial and error (especially varying temperature and times), and mentoring from my beautiful sister in Christ, Carol, I think I have it figured out. On a weekly basis, I make sourdough English muffins, crackers, bread, and pancakes.

Don't Think It's Too Late

I am so inspired by this amazing post, Homeschooling: It's Never Too Late to Start. It truly touched me and confirmed what I have been feeling these past three weeks. Not only that, it really made me think about our oldest son and his future in public school.

Whether you homeschool or not, I assure you, this is a post worth reading and sharing with others.

Follow Up: Dating or Courting?

After reading my post Dating or Courting?, one of my friends tried to comment and share some information. Unfortunately it did not post, so she emailed me instead. Caroleen is truly a Titus 2 lady, and I am incredibly thankful for her! Her mentoring, guidance, and wisdom is such a blessing as we continue on this journey of parenting and homeschooling.

Bravo, I am also studying more about courtship vs dating for training my children in God's ways. It is important for us as parents to help our children set the boundaries in relationships before their hormones kick in.

A tool we have used with our children to introduce this subject is called Passport to Purity by Dennis and Barbara Rainey.  It is designed to do with your children from as early as 8-12 years old. It is a time for mom to get away with the daughter and for dad to get away with the son.  This does not mean that mom can't talk to their sons nor fathers to their daughters, because it is important for both parents to train their children in this important area.

Right Here, Right Now

As I was looking up some scripture yesterday in my NLT Life Application Study Bible, I came across Numbers 9:23.  So they camped or traveled at the LORD's command, and they did whatever the LORD told them through Moses.

Because it is a study bible, I read the application at the bottom…

9:23 The Israelites traveled and camped as God guided. When you follow God's guidance, you know you are where God wants you, whether you are moving or staying in one place. You are physically somewhere right now. Instead of praying, "God, what do you want me to do next?" ask, "God, what do you want to do with me while I'm right here?" Direction from God is not just for your next big move. He has a purpose in placing you where you are right now. Begin to understand God's purpose for your life by discovering what he wants you to do right now!

Wow! God was speaking to me, to our family, and my prayers certainly need to change.

Whose Desire?

Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. Psalm 119:05

So, how do we truly know if we are on His path and following His lead?

This is a question I have long pondered and truly struggled with. Years ago one of my dear friends explained it very simply. She illustrated the picture of God planting a seed of His will in our hearts--explaining that His will continues to grow to the point where it becomes our heart's desire. That made sense.

Well, ok, but what if our heart's "desire" is to have an affair, buy the newest "whatever" using credit, buy a house that can only be afforded with two incomes, spend more time out with friends than at home, have plastic surgery, or pursue a career? At least one of those sounds terrible, but what about the rest?

How do we actually know if that very desire we are experiencing is God's will or Satan trying, through worldly desires, to distract us or cause havoc in our lives? Simple. If your desire is God's will, it will always line up with His word. Seeking His word before making decisions will make it crystal clear.

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. James 1:5

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. Psalm 32:8

Opening up and seeking trusted godly advice helps us discern whether it is God's will or a worldly desire we are feeling.

The way of fools seems right to them, but the wise listen to advice. Proverbs 12:15

Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisors they succeed. Proverbs 15:22

However, we are warned in Colossians 2:8, See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.

With that in mind, we must not treat the bible as a buffet of sorts, picking and choosing the verses that fit only our desires and pridefully calling the rest dated or not applicable. Boy, I have I been down that road! But, now My soul is consumed with longing for your laws at all times.

Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law. 
I am a stranger on earth; do not hide your commands from me. 
My soul is consumed with longing for your laws at all times. 
You rebuke the arrogant, who are accursed, those who stray from your commands.
